I wish I had the energy to get dressed up!

Because I use to rock it.

Before I was a mommy, I like to think I was somewhat stylish.  Definitely before I was a wife.  :)

Our lives have been in absolute overdrive lately.  And I have been reading, just not writing.  Poppy is getting soooo big and pictures will follow this post.  Pumpkin patch pics too!

Have a great day!

Really?

Every now and then in a woman's life, she craves something so dirty and so bad and she can't help herself but satisfy that craving.

(side eye)

Today was one of those days.

I head to a disgusting fast food joint and request a fake, congealed, mess of a meat patty cheeseburger.

Oh yes I do.

Me:  "May I please have a cheeseburger, no pickles, a small fry and a bottle of water?  NO!  Wait, it is Friday, I'd like a small coke."

Carla Cashier:  "I'm sorry ma'am, but we are out of burger meat.  Would you like a chicken sandwich instead?"

Me:  crickets

I'm sorry.  What the heck did you just say?

I ordered chicken nuggets.  Fake, congealed, processed nuggets.  They were horrid.  Fries and coke hit the spot though!

I mean.  Who runs out of hamburgers?  At a hamburger joint?!  Whatever.

I like my burgers from Poe's anyways.  I DO have a guardian angel!

I LOVED Rainbow Bright when I was young.

"Rainbow Bright, see the shining light....lalala!"

We are all moved in, FINALLY got the internets back and are slowly setting up house.  Though we need to hustle because Oct 1st I want to decorate for Autumn and Poppy's first Halloween!  Plus she is thisclose to crawling so we'd better hop to it!

New beginings

Well folks, we're moving.  We're moving right as Trader Joe's opens near us.  Which reminds me, I'm out of Joe's chocolate chip cookies......anywhoodles.  When Jason and I got married we got a one bedroom apartment.  It was just us and our two cats.  We were very happy.  We were just over the bridge to Chas and could still enjoy suburbia and be super close to work.  Jason was able to ride his road bike to and from work and get some of that ol' exercise in. Then we decided to try for a family and were successful way sooner than we thought we'd be.  We set up a room for Poppy in the den which had a door but no closet, so not necessarily considered a bedroom.  Now we are moving to a lovely little townhome with he rown room and bathroom and sidewalks and a garage.  Its further from work but its best for Poppy.

Can't wait to show yall the new place and all our re-designs!

Now that Labour Day is over....

Obviously, I was made for fall.  Pale and proud.  I can't remember the last time I had a tan.  Or the last time I cared about having one.  I'm just pale.  And proud.  I can't wait to get Poppy a pea coat.  Or to make her first Halloween costume (just yall wait!)  I can't wait for hot apple cider whilst taking a bubble bath.  I want to go for walk with Miss Poppy and listen to the stroller crunch leaves.  I love Autumn!

Because we all know that Autumn means that * Christmas * is just around the corner....

Sweet Home Alabama

Come on.  You knew that was coming.  Well we are back from our very first road trip with the baby!  Poppy had so much fun!  We set off on a Friday night so that Poppy could just sleep in the car.  We left Charleston around 9pm and rolled into Mobile around 8am.  Poppy only woke up once in Florida somewhere around 4am.  We had stopped at a rest area and I looked over at her and she was staring right back at me just wondering where in the world we were.  She was asleep before we hit the interstate again.  Once we arrived at Jason's parent's house we had blueberry pancakes with fresh blueberries that Jason's grandfather had brought from his home in Cumming, GA.  We had a fantastic trip visiting with Grandma and Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Aunt Jessica and Uncle Andrew.  Poppy had her first swim in the baby pool and enjoyed testing out her due-in-Nov-cousin's jumperoo.  We, of course, ate at The Brickpit.  Poppy seemed to enjoy the sauce Jason let her lick off his finger.  We failed to meet up with my girlfriend Catherine which just means we'll have to go back.  We drove home on Wednesday and Poppy took naps and looked out the window.  She fell asleep for "bedtime sleep" at 9 after Jason and I had a late dinner.  And she remained asleep once we got home at 2am.  We had a great time!  Here are some photos of sweet Poppy's first trip to Alabama.

More pics later....

Letters.......(venting sorry)

Dear Shingles,
Thanks for ruining 2 weeks of my life.  Thanks for the eye patch.

Dear Posthermatic Neuralgia,
You suck.  You really really suck.  I want to wear makeup without rubbing it off.  I want to wear mascara and eyeliner without rubbing it off.  I'd like to look presentable.  I don't want to constantly itch the left side of my head like I have lice.  (I don't).

Dear Husk,

Congrats on Best New Restaurant in America! Every time I eat there I die and go to heaven.  I love love love the chicken skins and love love love it even more when I can get them when they're not on the menu.  However, please stop trying to kill my husband.

I don't want to be a widow at 30.

Dear Ochocinco,
Do not.  I repeat.  Do not mess with my team.  Behave yourself.  I am currently undecided on you.

Dear Poppy's tooth,
Stop hurting my baby!

Dear "The Coming Weeks"
I hate moving so please don't hurt me too bad.

The End.

I hope yall are good!

Oui Oui!

Got this little lovely in my inbox from Velvet and Linen.....Enjoy!

I have an old window shutter that was obtained by the Historic Charleston Foundation after Hurricane Hugo in 1989.  I bought it at a warehouse sale in 2009 for a pretty penny and cannot wait to display it in our new home.  These old doors make me want to get it out now!

I LOVE this coffee table!  Perfect blend of French Provence and industrial.
Also can't wait to display all my antique kitchen paraphernalia.

Head on over and check out the entire post here.

Happy Saturday!

caulking

When I walk into Lowes, I literally shrivel up and die inside.  Frankly, it is boring and I have no clue what any of it is for.

If something goes wrong?

Call my dad.
Or Laura (my fab-basically-sister-in-law-contractor-extraordinaire)
Not any more (heh heh heh)
Conversation went like this:

Me:  "Hey tell me about caulking and spray foam, I have holes near window sills that need to be closed."
Laura:  "Well, spray foam is fine, but it sounds like caulk may be your best bet, get the white kind, you won't need a gun."

Ok, so that is what I heard.  In reality the conversation was much longer and she went into incredible detail that went WAY over my head.  Not wanting her to think I'm a moron, I told her that answered all my questions and to wish me luck at Lowes.

So....I went to Lowes and strutted around like a badass like "You silly people who don't know anything about taking care of your homes yourself, pshaw" and bought a tube of painters caulk.
Now, Jason was there and said to me:
"Um, don't you need a caulking gun?"
and I responded:
"Um, no, dumb dumb, Laura said I didn't need one"

I now think that he didn't say anything because he likes to watch me suffer.  Jerk.

Anywhoodles.  We went home and I cut the tip off and then attempted to squeeze. Aaaaaand nothing.  Little sucker wouldn't give me the goods.  Now, I don't have any upper body strength.  I stand up to staple, but COME ON!  Poppy is napping and I want to get to it!  So I put it on the counter, stood on a chair and pressed down with both hands and POP!  The bottom goes flying off.

Hmmmm.

No worries! I think as I grab a kitchen knife and start a'spacklin.  My index finger worked nicely too.  At this point Jason is looking at me like "why did I marry this chick, shes insane!" but that ok because I'm as happy as a four year old with finger paint.

Couple days later I saw Laura for our monthly Grandkid Movie Night; I proudly told her all about my caulking abilities and may have casually mentioned that I'm available for any odd jobs she needs done.  She responded by laughing and asking me why I got the one that required the gun when she clearly stated that I could buy the one in a toothpaste-esq tube and squeeze what I needed.

(crickets)

Whatev.  My holes are caulked.

Call me if you need me.  I'm pretty much a pro.

Watermelon Cupcakes

This evening Kiki and I decided to make cupcakes.  I like to "wing it" which is why I usually don't enjoy cooking.  Having to pay attention to a receipt and watch it and blah blah blah.  My husband just whips things up and they taste fabulous....of course he does have a culinary degree whereas I do not.  I had seen the recipe for these cupcakes a while ago and thought to myself, "so easy!" so why would I need a receipt.  And really I didn't because it just called for box mix and food coloring.  I googled "watermelon cupcakes" and didn't find the exact receipt I had glanced over.  I did see a lot of pictures of watermelon cupcakes much nicer than ours and some much worse.  They were delish btw.  (Sorry the photos aren't the best :o!)
